How to use OCR PDF online

OCR (optical character recognition) reads the text in scanned documents and photos. OCR PDF adds an invisible text layer so you can search, select and copy text from scans.

  1. Select a scanned PDF or an image (JPG, PNG and more).
  2. Choose the languages in the document: English, Hindi or both.
  3. Click "Run OCR" and keep the tab open while pages are recognised.
  4. Download a PDF that looks the same but is now searchable.

Why use PDFILOVE OCR PDF?

Your file is processed inside your own browser, so it is never uploaded to our servers.

Frequently asked questions

What is OCR used for?

It makes scanned documents searchable and lets you copy text out of them, which also helps screen readers.

Which languages are supported?

English and Hindi. Select both for bilingual documents.

Why is OCR slow on my phone?

Recognition runs on your device, so speed depends on its processor. A computer is faster for long documents.
